Born in Morocco, Souheil spent a majority of his childhood and high school years working in kitchens and dining rooms during which time he developed a strong acumen for restaurants and hospitality. Fluent in English, French and Arabic, Souheil brings a culmination of international experience to the table, making him well suited for the melding of cultures in the Reston community. Souheil is the "heart" behind what makes Neyla special.
ABOUT THE CHEF
Abdo Matar has been appointed Executive Chef for NEYLA Mediterranean Bistro. His culinary art education took place in Lebanon where he earned a Food Production and Hotel Management Degree.
Abdo is a skilled chef with a creative and innovative approach to fine Mediterranean Dining. Abdo served as the Corporate Executive Chef for Kababji Grill Mediterranean Lebanese Cuisine in Washington, DC, as well as in Lebanon, from 2005-2013. He then opened his own Italian Gourmet Pizza restaurant in Maryland, but prefers to be back in the kitchen at a place where Mediterranean Food with a focus on Lebanese Cuisine is the main event.
